Neuropathy Treatment

Neuropathy (also known as peripheral neuropathy) is a condition that occurs when the peripheral nerves—those outside of the brain and spinal cord—are damaged. It affects millions worldwide and is much more common than people think.

This damage can lead to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, burning pain, muscle weakness, and sometimes even balance problems.

Various factors, including restricted blood flow, diabetes, infections, toxin exposure, and genetic predispositions, can affect the nerves.

Let’s look at this in some more detail.

Common Causes of Neuropathy

Neuropathy is a complex subject, and many factors can affect it. Below are some of the most common ones.
  • Diabetes - A high blood sugar level over a long period can affect the nerves. This makes diabetes the biggest cause of neuropathy.
  • Poor circulation - If blood flow to the nerves is restricted, the lack of oxygen and nutrients can cause nerve damage.
  • Autoimmune diseases - These are conditions where the immune system attacks the body's own tissue (by mistake), including nerves.
  • Toxins - Sometimes, exposure to certain chemicals (such as pesticides) can damage the nerves.
  • Infections - If you consistently get infections, this can lead to damaged nerves.

The Symptoms

We are all different, and therefore, everyone will have slightly different symptoms depending on where they are affected, how old they are, and other factors.

Here are some of the most common signs to look out for.
  • Balance Issues - Nerve damage, especially in the legs and feet, can affect balance and increase the risk of falls.
  • Numbness or tingling - This is probably the most common symptom, and it will feel like you have pins and needles in your hands and feet.
  • Burning pain - A sharp, burning feeling that can either be consistent or intermittent.
  • General muscle weakness - It might be difficult to perform everyday tasks, or coordination might be harder than usual.

How We Treat Neuropathy

We know that every patient is different; therefore, each treatment will be slightly different. Everyone will get a unique treatment plan.

We don’t only want to stop the pain, but we want to get to the root cause of it to make sure it's not going to be a recurring issue.

Here are some of the approaches we take:

Infrared Electromagnetic Light Therapy

This treatment uses low-level lasers to help reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and promote the regeneration of damaged nerves. It's a safe and painless approach that can really help reduce the symptoms of neuropathy.

Electric Stimulation

This uses small electrical impulses to stimulate the nerves and muscles. It helps improve nerve function, promote healing, and reduce pain. When our nerves are damaged, they can’t send signals properly, which causes pain and numbness. This is not a painful treatment, and most people find it relaxing.

Nutrition Therapy

We often don't think about it, but nutrition plays a big part in the body's healing process, affecting the nerves. We help you by creating a personalized nutrition plan to fuel your body with the proper nutrients.
